Caring for your Garments

CARING FOR YOUR PRECIOUS GARMENTS

Kque Clothing uses only the highest quality fabrics for our limited edition designs. Our garments feature delicate fibres such as soft, lustrous silks, flowing chiffons, gorgeous georgettes and stunning sateen. To maintain your Kque pieces to the highest quality and extend the life of your delicate fabrics, please consider these tips and techniques for caring for your precious garments.

SILK

Our top recommendation for caring for your silk dresses, skirts, shirts and pants is to dry clean your garments. Dry cleaning is an effective way to clean delicate fabrics, without using water and can guard against damage such as shrinkage, colour loss and finish changes.

Should you wish to clean at home, please follow these instructions:

  1. Hand wash in cold water
  2. Wash colours separately
  3. Rinse in cold water – do not use hot water as this may cause changes to shape and size
  4. Use the correct detergent – read labels carefully to ensure the detergent is suitable for delicate fabrics such as silk
  5. Do not spot treat – always treat your silk garment as a whole. Spot treatment can cause isolated colour fading
  6. Do not wring – delicate silk does not take kindly to twists and wringing. If you want to remove excess water from your silk garment after hand washing, roll it up in a cotton cloth or towel
  7. Steam wrinkles – using a steamer, smooth out the wrinkles to help maintain the fabric. Alternatively, hang your silk garment in the bathroom and expose to hot steam when showering
  8. Dry in the shade – choose a place for drying away from the sun and direct heat
  9. Try to avoid spills – alcohol is the enemy of silk and can cause discolouration and fabric weakening. Try to avoid spilling alcohol on your silk garment and be aware of using products such as perfume or hairspray.
  10. Keep in a fabric bag – store your silk garments in a porous fabric bag to ward off dust and moths.

CHIFFON

We recommend dry cleaning for your chiffon garments to ensure the best clean with the least risk of damage.

  4. Use a mild detergent

  6. Dry in the shade – choose a place for drying away from the sun and direct heat

GEORGETTE

Georgette is less delicate than silk and chiffon and the fabric tends to be sturdier. Hand washing is still best.

  2. Wash colours separately
  3. Rinse in cold water – do not use hot water as this may cause changes to shape and size

  6. Dry in the shade – choose a place for drying away from the sun and direct heat
